South African Airways is seeking to appoint a Groups Manager. The incumbent will report to the Manager – Revenue Managment. The key function of the role is to maximize Group revenue through monitoring and controlling of Inventory levels assigned to group bookings, taking into account desired fare levels, seasonality as well as providing viable alternates to group bookings contribution to revenue.
Amadeus Helpdesk Certification would be an advantage
A minimum of 5 – 7 years of airline experience within a revenue management environment
Experience in pricing and fares is will be a distinct advantage
The key outputs for the role are as follows:
Continuous monitoring of not only current sales but also external developments which may affect future sales
Ability to read and interpret the effect of currency variations on fares
Analysis of flights in order to firm up flights before departure
Ability to predict no show rates effectively
Constantly monitor the fares being offered by competitors
Constantly monitor the integrity of travel agents booking profiles
Understand and interpret the relationship between yields, load factors and the unit costs and the impact thereof on airline’s revenue and financial targets
Day-to-day monitoring and control of seat availability in each fare group on each flight to ensure that revenue is maximized
Constant analysis and interpretation of updated information on sales and other key data in the reservation systems
Understand the booking conditions attached to different fares and seat availability as tools to channel seats to the passengers paying higher fares
Forecast sales by class reviewed periodically in the period starting 12 months before departure
Maximise revenue by capturing the consumer surplus by selling each seat at the maximum that each passenger is prepared to pay
Ability to report on booked versus flown hit ratio (take-up rate)
Develop models to predict no show rates and introduce booking conditions which discourage no-shows
Ability to sell up
Evaluate group requests ensuring acceptance will not displace higher value traffic
Investigate utilization and materialisation rates of groups to ensure Inventory will not unnecessarily be spoilt through late return of unused space
Prepare and present own performance statistics
Monitor contractual arrangements with intermediaries and monitor group performance and compliance with intermediaries by constant analysis to ensure that preference is given to those who normally perform better when competing requests for space on the same flight is received
Ensure that seat utilisation of SAA are optimised in respect of all group bookings contributing to the Revenue and yield
Manage and analyse Inventory for large events
Assist in determining contractual terms and conditions
Monitor intermediary / group performance
Negotiate group space and prices
Ensure compliance with SPA agreements in relation to groups
Liaise with route analysts ensuring groups are in line with specific route strategies
