Graduates will be recruited for Personal and Business Banking (PBB) and rotate through different business units of Personal and Business Banking (PBB). Graduates job descriptions range from product and business analysts to junior managers and credit positions.

Each graduate accepted onto the Personal and Business Banking (PBB) Leadership Development Program will be exposed to a wide range of business units and after understanding the different areas, the graduate will be placed into the area which best matches their skills, qualifications and career paths.

The different areas where graduates will typically get placed include: Vehicle and Asset Finance, Customer Offerings, Home Loans, Credit, Credit Card, Transactional Products, PBB Finance, Agricultural Department, Risk and Compliance, Private Client Services, and Portfolio Management to name a few.

Position Description

Required Skills and Qualifications
You need to be in at least second year of your tertiary studies, however the majority of successful graduates will be candidates who are completing or completed their degrees. That is a portion of candidates will return to university after the first two months of the program and the remaining graduates will stay on permanently.

Postgraduate students (honors, master’s and doctoral) are most welcome to apply to the graduate program.

There are no limitations on the amount or level of work experience you have. You may have no work experience or you may have 5 years experience, you are still eligible to apply to the PBB LDP.

The LDP is open to South African Citizens and permanent residents of South Africa. Non-residents are welcome to apply but will be considered for the African Graduate Program only. The Africa Graduate Program works closely with the countries that Standard Bank has a presence within Africa.

The general profile of the typical successful graduate is a combination of aspects such as University qualification, university marks, work experience, community involvement, leadership roles and a positive attitude, to name a few. We are essentially looking for a well-rounded, passionate person who is willing to learn and work hard, as well as have fun doing it.

Candidates must be able to show they possess the following competencies to be considered.

Knowledge: Keen interest in business and in touch with topical issues and current events. Must have a sound academic background and be able to talk confidently around their area of study.
Conceptual Ability: Must be able to provide a strategic contribution and enjoy complexity. Must be able to manage ambiguous information and able to make a decision on complex information. Must learn quickly and provide insight into difficult situations. Think in terms of solutions rather than rules.
Innovation and proactivity: Provide clarity and direction. Must be hungry to learn and enjoy work all levels of work. Must be resourceful and future orientated. Must be open to change and adapt own ideas to new information.

Working with others: Have a positive effect of team spirit and morale. Must be enthusiastic, appreciate diverse views and treat others with respect. Must possess leadership potential and be able to build credibility and trust.
