Stewart Scott International (SSI) was founded in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1922. Registered as Stewart Scott (Pty) Ltd and trading as Stewart Scott International (SSI). SSI has played a leading role in promoting and nurturing empowerment not only within the company, but across the construction industry sector. The company’s name changed to SSI, a DHV company, in September 2006 after the DHV Group became the majority shareholder.

A vacancy exists in the Msunduzi office for a Civil (Structural) Engineer / Technologist to commence duties in the Buildings & Structures Sector as soon as possible.

Main Responsibilities

Engineering design

Input into project management team work

Preparation of tenders

Contract administration

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

BSc / BEng or B-Tech Civil Engineering

Professional registration with ECSA

Minimum of 8-10 years experience in structural buildings:

o Reinforced concrete

o Structural steel

o Masonry

Structural experience other than in buildings will be advantageous

Experience in prokon design package

Site experience

Project management

Ability to liaise with clients, Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Contractors

Behavioural Competencies

Able to take initiative and work independently; with flexible hours

Good organizational skills (e.g. time management)

Team player – mature, energetic, innovative and customer centric

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Able to work well under pressure

Deadline driven
