Reporting to the Online Editor eNCA Division, your Key Performance Areas will include:
Writing web-ready copy
Producing accurate and editorially sound copy from a variety of sources
Watching wire services and news feeds for the day’s news and breaking news
Converting broadcast scripts into web-appropriate stories
Flagging changes and major moves in stories
Liaising with the Duty Editor and taking direction on delivery priorities
Sub editing, ensuring copy is factually accurate, grammatically correct, free of spelling errors and visually stimulating
Writing headlines
Uploading stories and visual content into the content management system
Ensuring stories are tagged and effectively linked to other relevant content
Assisting in deciding on how best to visually illustrate stories
Assisting with the maintenance of and contribution to social network profiles
Occasionally deputising for the Duty Editor
Requirements:
Advantageous
Familiarity with one or more web content management systems
Good contact base.
Note: The successful candidate will be required to work irregular and long hours, including weekends, public holidays and standby shifts.
