About the job: 
The CSIR has an Internship opportunity for Technicians in the National Laser Centre.

The purpose of this role is to provide support to Research and Development staff and projects.

Perform duties with the guidance of the line manager/supervisor and assist with laboratory or workshop tasks.

This Internship opportunity will enhance the theoretical knowledge of the applicant and provide valuable, practical experience through mentorship.

The position is based in CSIR, Pretoria.

Key responsibilities:
 Application of methods and protocols for basic testing and operating procedures which will be followed as per set instructions;
 Equipment maintenance and usage and reporting of operations and maintenance activities to supervisor;
 Support R&D activities and ensure tasks are completed timeously and according to specified instructions;
 Interpretation of results, data validation and reporting deviations to supervisor;
 Data management and documentation by capturing data documenting it on the document management system.

Qualifications, skills and experience: 
 Minimum Grade 12;
 National Diploma in mechanical, electrical, metallurgical, electronic engineering or physics will be an added advantage;
 Good interpersonal skills;
 Ability to read, write and follow written instructions;
 Good work ethics;
 Computer literate.
