The purpose of the job is:
To work with Curriculum and Development Learning Specialist and other role players to advise and assist academics with:

· the development of curricula that are in line with Programme Qualification Mix (PQM) of the College and adhere to the requirements of the Council of Higher Education (CHE) and the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and the Department of Higher Education (DHET)
· the development of study material that are in line with the Open Distance Learning principles.
· their teaching and assessment of students in order to improve throughput in the Colleges.

 

Requirements

Minimum qualification: an appropriate NQF Level 8 (Honours degree) preferably in Education, Science Education, Educational Planning, Curriculum Planning, Educational Technology or Instructional design
3 years’ experience in Higher Education institution and in academic or curriculum design section

 

Knowledge in:
§ Open Distance Learning (ODL)-theories and research
§ ODL delivery system design
§ South African Higher Education and Training legislation and policies
§ South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA)
§ Global trends in adult learning principles and methodologies
§ Curriculum development and design
§ Materials design and development
§ Instructional design /learning development/development of learning experiences and environment
§ New educational and communication technologies
§ CHE/HEQC quality management system
§ Application of technology to teaching and learning
§ Various delivery method and blended learning solutions
§ Quality assurance in Higher Education

 

Duties
§ Assists academics of the Colleges to ensure compliance to the curricula comply the Curriculum Policy and in line with Programme Qualification Mix (PQM)
§ Assists academics with the development of curricula and study material to ensure the guidelines provided by FTA, Higher Education Qualification Framework (HEQF) and South African Qualification Authority (SAQA)
§ Assists academics with the process of accreditation and registration of the qualifications
§ Collaborates with academics to ensure the application of appropriate pedagogies and technologies to achieve the aims of Open Distance Learning (ODL)
§ Assists academics with the implementation of quality assurance procedures and monitoring systems to deliver quality tuition
§ Be knowledgeable in the latest theories and research findings in ODL and relevant policies for teaching, learning and research.

Salary: Remuneration is commensurate with the seniority of the position
