Basic Function of Position:
The Deputy PEPFAR Coordinator shares many of the duties of the PEPFAR Coordinator for the development and implementation of a unified program that capitalizes on the comparative advantages and competencies among the various U.S. Government agencies involved in implementing public health program activities funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) in country. This is both a management and a communication role. Job holder serves as primary coordinator for meeting key reporting timelines related to the inter-agency PEPFAR program in country. As the day-to-day manager of the PEPFAR Coordinator’s Office, job holder monitors the office budget, assigns and clears on work products prior to submission to the Coordinator and works closely with service providers to meet office operational requirements. Job holder facilitates communication between and among the participating U.S. Government agencies, working closely with agency program managers and the inter-agency technical working groups to ensure coordinated planning, implementation, and monitoring of PEPFAR supported activities. Job holder collaborates with the Coordinator in creating opportunities through events and activities for regular communication between the PEPFAR in-country team and the various partners, including the Ministry of Health and other participating organizations. Job holder serves as Acting PEPFAR Coordinator in the PEPFAR Coordinator’s absence.
The Deputy PEPFAR Coordinator is a key member of the PEPFAR Oversight Committee, which is a high level interagency body guiding PEPFAR management and strategic planning. Job holder has management responsibility for 12 office staff (Administrative Assistant, Budget Analyst, Public Communication Manager, and the 9 Provincial Liaisons. Job holder also serves as the Strategic Information Liaison within the PEPFAR Coordination Office to the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator (OGAC) and coordinates interagency teams that evaluate and monitor the PEPFAR South Africa program.
The U.S. Embassy in Pretoria is seeking an individual for the position of Public Health Administrative Management Specialist (PEPFAR Deputy Coordinator) in the PEPFAR Office.
Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and hold valid South African residency permit.

Basic Salary: R534,747 – R748,642 per annum
Cash Benefits: R117,908 – R135,733 per annum
Non-cash benefits include medical, pension and others where applicable
