Main Purpose
To develop, implement, control and revise / adjust all elements of merchandise planning to ensure profitability and sufficient servicing of stores.
Key Responsibilities
• Strategic planning
• Production management
• Sales and financial budgeting
• Develop and implement Merchandise, Range, Stock and intake Planning
• Analysing sales performance, stock and planned availability
• Managing and developing Store Planner’s
Key Competencies
• Preferably a relevant business diploma / degree (Retail business management/BCom/Clothing management/BScience/BA)
• 3-5 years planning experience
• Extensive Retail knowledge
• Technically strong merchandising skills
• Merchant and retail ability: demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the market place, competitors and customer needs
• Knowledge of business IT systems (including Forecasting and Replenishment, RMS etc)
• Knowledge of Product lead times to formulate a working critical path
• Ability to formulate strategies and implement shorter-term tactical plans that are cost – effective efficient and realistic
• Analytical and interpretative ability
• Business acumen: an understanding of basic business processes and how sales are generated and the ability to achieve these goals
• Computer literate: advanced Excel Skills and ability to operate in a Windows based environment
• Assertiveness and influencing ability
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Results driven and proactive
• Ability to work in a pressurised environment
• Team Player
