SALARY : R183 438 per annum (plus benefits)
CENTRE : Weskoppies Hospital

REQUIREMENTS : Diploma/ degree in Public Administration with 4 years relevant experience in
patient administration OR grade 12 with 7 – 10 years relevant experience in
general and forensic mental health administration. Knowledge of MEDICOM,
UPFS tariffs, Patient classification systems. Knowledge of Mental Health Care
Act, Criminal Procedures Act, National Core Standards and other health and
Public Service legislation. Computer literate in MS Office package and report
writing. Familiar with the referral systems relevant to Specialized Psychiatry
hospitals within a district mental health framework. Good verbal and writing
communication skills. Leadership qualities. Ability to work under pressure.
Experience in working at a Specialized Psychiatric hospital will be an added
advantage.

 

DUTIES : Supervision, monitoring and evaluation of operations in an in and out Patient
Administration department. Supervision monitoring and evaluation of forensic
mental health Observations referrals. Supervision, monitoring and evaluation of
mentally ill prisoner referrals. Ensure that general and forensic patients are
classified correctly according to UPFS. Admission and discharge regulations and
legislation are adhered to. Maintenance and management of good quality clinical,
periodical and other records. Maximise revenue collection on patients and
recovery of outstanding accounts strategy. Patient billing and monthly
compilation of Annexure F, verification of DHIS and other Quality Assurance
reports before approval. Understand downtime management processes and
reconcile monthly reports. Staff supervision and performance evaluation in
accordance with HR and LR regulations. Updating of job descriptions.
Submission of monthly reports. Ensure that Patient Administration departmental
meetings and trainings are taking place. Attend meetings, internal and external.
Maintain adherence to established district and interprovincial patient referral
systems. Liaison with Mental Health Review Board, Department of Justice,
Department of Correctional Services, PA and SAPS. Any other function as
delegated by the manager.A practical test will form part of the interview.
