AHRI has a exciting position for the Senior Data Specialist. The position is seconded to the KZN DoH, The Senior Data Specialist will support the KZN DoH data integration work, including technology transfer from the Western Cape DoH to enable the development of a data model, data warehouse and the establishment of an analytics environment. The position will be based at our AHRI Offices in Durban.

Job Summary:
The incumbent will play a leadership role within the data warehouse team and will work closely and collaborate with the mid-level data scientist and Data Analyst to define requirements, onboard data from main feeder systems and deploy high quality data pipelines in support of the analytics needs of provincial DOH.

Minimum Qualifications:
1.Bsc in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:
1.Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience
2.Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Power BI, Tableau, SQL server reporting services), databases
(SQL etc.), programming
3.Strong knowledge of database structure, data types and relationship types
4.A proven track record of working with data, data analysis and data management
5.Experience using MS SQL Server 2012 – 2019 or equivalent tools.
6.Experience with dashboard and reporting tools (e.g. Microsoft Reporting Services, Power BI).
7.Should be good with query tuning and performance optimization.
8.Experience with ETL tools like Pentaho, Tableau and/or SSIS or equivalent tools.
9.Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information from
disparate systems, with attention to detail and accuracy.
