BancABC has a proud heritage dating back to 1956. The Group, which has its head office in Botswana, was formed as a result of a series of mergers and acquisitions of financial institutions operating in Southern Africa. As a result, BancABC has operations in Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe and a group services office in South Africa.

BancABC, previously known as African Banking Corporation, rebranded in April 2009, in line with its expansion into retail banking. BancABC’s will be opening retail banking operations across all territories by the end of 2010.

They are currently seeking for a Senior IT designer.

MAIN PURPOSE

The purpose of this job is to develop designs and design templates to support business and IT requirements and for the designs associated with new technology standards as related to the designated architectures.

MAIN FOCUS AREAS

Ensure that all infrastructure designs conform to the defined Infrastructure Architecture and must efficiently maintain the architectures for BancABC’s use

Assist the project teams in respect of interpretation to understand the designs and to ensure correctness during implementation

Working with 3rd party suppliers to ensure adherence to the Business stated intent whilst working within the guidelines of the defined IT and Business Architectures

Assist with development, motivation and implementation of domain strategy for area of responsibility

Provision of high level and detail designs

Manage the design process interactions both inter and intra departments as well as solution vendors

Communicate the domain strategy through the design to project teams

Provision of expertise consultancy to affected parties

Document and maintain implementation level design

Participate in the Architecture Review Board

Document and maintain related technology input to Domain Strategy

Document and maintain Technology Design templates

Proactively understand development opportunities and act on these

Build good relationship with project managers, project delivery team and/or Technology Architecture team members

Create architectural presentations in support of communications plan

Financial / Budget planning and management of architectural components as and when requested

Development of the Technology lifecycle roadmap with a minimum of a 5 year view, including both aspects of Hardware and Software components of the technology.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

A degree in Technology will be an advantage.

Demonstrate strong analytical and conceptual capabilities.

Solid all round IT insight.

EXPERIENCE

5-10 years in the IT environment, with a strong conceptual slant

At least 3 years in an architectural design environment

Knowledge of financial systems is required

Good technical understanding of core banking systems as implemented at BancABC will be advantageous
