REQUIREMENTS : Matric certificate and a relevant NQF Level 7 in Agriculture while a higher relevant qualification will be an added advantage. A valid driver’s license (please attach a copy). Knowledge of Extension services and methodology. Communication skills. Computer proficiency will be tested.

 

DUTIES : To promote sustainable development in the agricultural sector through the application of the appropriate extension principles and methods. To render scientific and technical advice to internal and external clients under mentorship to ensure sustainable development. Provide technical support in terms of planning, advice and after care for organised agriculture and other agricultural stakeholders. Provide technical support on funded projects (such as CASP, LRDA etc.). Promote sustainable production of Agricultural products. Involvement in research activities under guidance of seniors. Perform administrative and related functions. Keep up to date with regard to the applicable prescripts, policies, procedures, technologies and new developments to be able to render an efficient and effective extension services.

Certified copies of certified copies will be disqualified. All shortlisted candidates will be subjected to security clearance. The successful candidate must be willing to sign an oath of secrecy with the Department. The appointment will be subjected to the verification of educational qualifications, previous experience, citizenship, reference checks and security vetting. Candidates with foreign qualifications are advised to attach SAQA accreditation of their qualifications. SMS candidates will be subjected to a competency assessment test and will be required to sign a performance agreement and an employment contract once appointed.
