Summary:
The Technical Pilot is responsible for operational related technical matters as well as all operational / technical projects.

Compliance with company polices & procedures, regulatory requirements, condition & restrictions of AOC and other statutory requirement.

Ensure that policies, processes and systems are in place, based on effective liaison with government regulatory agencies, aircraft manufacturers and those servicing the aircraft, so that aircraft are flown, and other flight equipment is used according to the standards and regulatory requirements to meet Air Botswana ‘s business and operational objectives.

Maintain document control system of Flight Operations and Approve content and direct publication of current Flight Crew Operating Manuals, Aircraft Mass and Balance Manuals, Route and Airport Analysis, Minimum Equipment Lists, Configuration Deviation Lists and all other publications and associated hand-outs relevant to Flight Operations for each type of aircraft flown by Air Botswana.

Manage the performance of the Flight Operations Technical through the development and implementation of effective communication, planning and monitoring systems so that Pilots have the information and support they need to deliver to the performance standards required of them by Air Botswana ‘s business and operating objectives.

Coordinate with aircraft manufacturers and the Engineering and Maintenance Department to achieve standardization of operating techniques and cockpit layout.

Stipulate criteria and formats for flight tests after major modifications and changes for Air Botswana aircraft to meet airline / CAAB requirements.

Initiate and receive amendments to Operations Specifications and recommended changes to Air Navigation Orders (ANOs) before issue by CAAB.

Liaise with various departments of Air Botswana and CAAB for renewal of Air Operator ‘s Certificate (AOC) and associated inspections of Air Botswana operational facilities by CAAB team/s.

Ensures that the department complies with BCARs and any other relevant authorities’ regulations within the area of responsibility

Ensures that department conforms with IOSA requirements and best industry practice within area of responsibility.

Takes corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of business objectives;

Requirements:
Minimum Education Required:

A recognized Degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Engineering or equivalent required.

Aviation operational knowledge required. Dispatcher certificate or pilot license required.

Minimum Experience Required

A minimum of six (6) years post graduate experience of which three (3) years should have been in a similar role.
