ALPS Resilience is a rapidly growing nonprofit organisation, working in the violence prevention, community resilience field. ALPS currently has projects in South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, and a presence in Somalia. ALPS Resilience seeks to appoint a Bid Writer / Development Officer to be based in Cape Town.
Job Title: Bid Writer / Development Officer
Location: Cape Town
Remuneration: will be commensurate with experience
Start date: March or As soon as possible
Contract dates: March to December 2019 (with the option to extend)
Responsibilities:
- Locate at least two appropriate funding opportunities for ALPS Resilience each month. from international cooperation agencies, national government, or private foundations
- Write at least two high quality proposals to submit on behalf of ALPS each month
- Maintain existing and initiate new relationships with various stakeholders and donors
- Develop and implement creative fundraising activities and sustainability solutions
- Contribute to ALPS’s communications, including writing policy briefs, project reports or related communications outputs
Requirements:
- Must have previous grant / bid writing experience for international donors such as the UN, US State Department, EU, DFID, USAID etc
- Must be a strong research and writer
- A Master’s degree in International Relations, Security / Conflict Studies and/or related
- A strong candidate with a mix of relevant experience and qualifications would also be considered
- An interest in one or more of the following would be advantageous: xenophobia, refugee and migrant rights, human trafficking, post-conflict stabilisation, violent extremism and community resilience
- Preferred: experience in the nonprofit or development sector
- Willingness to travel and take on tasks in our growing organisation as required
