Job Title: Finance Clerk
Job Location: Cape Town
Salary: R10 000 to R15 0000, dependent upon skills and experience. Cost to company
Report to:  ALPS Resilience’s Finance Office

The purpose of the position is to support programme and operational staff in bookkeeping, finance, budgeting, reporting and compensation.

Responsibilities:

Finance

  • Bookkeeping to Trial Balance stage
  • Monthly bank reconciliation
  • Monthly Creditors / Debtors reporting
  • Payroll administration and maintenance
  • Assist with preparation and monitoring of project budgets
  • Prepare internal control documentation relevant to all payments, receipts, purchase orders, staff leave, and all other approvals and authorisations
  • Compile financial reports for projects
  • Assist with the finance and budgeting aspects of grant-writing
  • Learn financial reporting requirements expected by funders
  • Compile financial reporting to donors with programme staff for submission by Financial Officer

Procurement

  • Develop and implement a local procurement system for equipment and supplies to support activities in accordance with ALPS procurement procedures
  • Identify international procurement requirements by donors and submit requests to the Finance Officer for action

Requirements:

  • Bookkeeping diploma/certificate or Matric plus five years Bookkeeping to TB
  • Minimum of three years’ relevant experience in the NGO environment
  • Strong time management, planning, organising and interpersonal skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Experience working in an NGO with multiple international funders
  • Previous experience managing donor funds
