Job Purpose
Active participation on automation and enablement within the LBC, Enhancements, Implementation, Maintenance and Optimization and reporting of such systems. This includes designing and developing user friendly forms for internal users in terms of LBC requirements. The incumbent is responsible to develop various tools for the Large Business Centre when a request is required. Managing and storing of information through trend analysis, data analysis and statistical analysis to provide management with meaningful information that will assist them to make well informed business decisions.

 

Key Responsibilities
Development of applications – develop and design applications to ensure LBC staff have user friendly information;
Compilation of Functional Specification
Development and Enhancement of systems – Continuously seeking methods to improve current applications and developing of new efficient and user-friendly systems in area of responsibility;
Maintenance – Review and maintain the designed systems according to best practice or amend to align with legislative changes. Maintain and Monitor the application environment to ensure stability and optimum performance;
Optimisation – Optimising the SARS form space through research and application of best practises and ensuring alignment to the overall strategy of SARS. Investigate and evaluate new form designs to enhance services.
Provide reports – Report regularly to the Development Team Leader regarding the scope of work and detail of System Building.
Compliance Management – Ensure adherence to technical standards and all relevant legal and SARS requirements;
Ad-hoc Assignments
Championing the divisional mandate and purpose – providing a direct and indirect operational support that will contribute to the divisional output and mandate in LBC and SARS;
Conducting presentation – Compile and conduct professional presentation where and when required
Cross functional management – liaise across SARS disciplines to ensure design requirements are aligned with systems capacity, SARS quality requirements and legal frameworks;
Innovation – Propose and implement means to improve SARS systems.
Process improvements – continuously seeking opportunities to improve current processes that will enhance efficiency and drive costs down;
Problem solving – Uses rigorous logic and methods to resolve complicated technical problems with effective solutions, probes all fruitful sources for answers, detect hidden problems. Approaches problem solving beyond the obvious and ensures that the problems are being resolved in a in a timely and concise manner.
Relationships – Foster a business relationship with all key stakeholders that include frequent engagement;
Research (benchmarking) – new trends and developments with the purpose to improve application/system design and benchmark with best practices.

 

Experience and Qualifications
A relevant degree, preferably a BSc IT or BSc Computer Science or Equivalent.
2 years’ experience in system development environment.
2 years’ experience doing computer programming
The ideal candidate will have the following competencies:
