An exciting opportunity with a rewarding remuneration package now exists to join Anglo American Thermal Coal South Africa, Asset Optimiation department as Profession in Training. A developmental role with the primary purpose being to learn through experiential learning about the relevant discipline and be able to fulfill a substantial position with Anglo American plc in the future through completing a structured  developmental programme that is geared towards the future leaders in Anglo.

Professional in Training: Industrial Engineers –   Graduates (N/G)                       REF NO: AO07/TT

The role:

The successful incumbent will be responsible to ensure that he/she gained enough practical work experience in the Asset Optimisation and to gain an understanding of Anglo business principles and values:

  • Complete a development programme within the 18 -24 months timeframe and compile evidence of work experience in line with ECSA requirements.
  • Integrate key Learning and offer input, advice and value –add recommendations after each phase of the development programme.
  • Attend formal courses and seminars as prescribed in the development programme and participate in all opportunities for development.
  • Act in the capacity of other roles in as and when required and deliver on the role outcomes as expected in an acting capacity as well as suggest and advice on improvements, or alterative ways of doing things.
  • Identify, propose and participate in improvements or value-add projects relevant to Asset Optimisation discipline by conducting research and benchmarking against other divisions and industries as well as networking with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and engage with technical mentor and technical coach.

You will need:

  • Universities of Science degree in Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience on an Operational or Service Department in Anglo Coal as a vacation student / bursar holder (if a bursar holder).
  • Sound reference from previous employers or learning institutions.
  • Prior working experience in the field would be an advantage.
  • Proven vocational or temporary work within the industries.
  • Proven completion of an Industrial Engineer / Asset Optimisation project.
  • Basic Knowledge of Anglo Coal SA Business principles and values.
  • Sound theoretical knowledge in Industrial Engineering.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Good written and verbal skills.
  • Good problem solving and Analytical skills.

Requirements:

–       Have sound knowledge of safety systems and standards and high regard to safety, regulations and standards.

–       Valid South African driver’s license.

–       In possession of or able to obtain a certificate of fitness.
