Role Description:

The Mineral Resources Manager is a Senior Head of Department position in the Operational Unit and forms part of the General Managers team. The Mineral Resources Manager is accountable for the disciplines of Geology, Survey, Planning, Rock Engineering and Mine Planning. The role is responsible for the translation of technical information and strategic intent into strategic business plans/proposals, MRM discipline governance, MRM talent development and monitoring/reporting of Operational Unit performance. This time frame of work is 1 – 30 yeas or Life of Mining Right.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and evaluate optimal resource exploitation plans, Life of Mining Right plans and scenarios aligned with strategic intent and existing business planning.
• Proper standards, procedures and codes of practices
• Trained staff to support the MRM discipline and the Operational Unit
• Discipline governance, audit and quality
• Operational monitoring and reporting
• Discipline excellence (people, processes and tools) Operational and effective risk management program
• Projects managed and coordinated
• Liaison with concentrator and other elements of value chain
• Primary point of contact with Centre MRM
• Safety

Education: (Applicants must provide certified copies of all relevant qualifications)

• BSc/BEng in Mining or Earth Sciences / National “N” diploma (Engineering qualification) and/or accredited MRM qualification
• Government Certificate of Competency would be an advantage
• BCom, MBA or other financial / commercial qualification would be an advantage
• Professional registration

Competencies:

• Experience in Mineral Resource Management of Financial Valuation or Mineral Economics disciplines
• 10 years mining industry experience of which at least 5 years should be in the Platinum industry at a senior level
• Technical knowledge in MRM disciplines: Geology, Survey, Rock engineering, Mine Planning, Ventilation
• Strong leadership, managerial and presentation skills
• Advanced computer skills
• Proficiency in English

Physical requirements:

• Certificate of Fitness and fit for movement underground
