Job Title: Research Assistants / Health Promoters

Report to: The allocated health facility on daily basis and work closely with TB and HIV Units
The purpose of the position is to work as a Health Promoter and will overall be responsible for ensuring that all patients in the waiting room are provided with information about the study, provide information on TB screening and refer them to the field worker for testing.
Responsibilities:
Technical:
- Provide information about the study to clients in the waiting room
- Provide information on TB screening and ensure all eligible clients are tested for TB
- Work closely with clinic staff to ensure all eligible clients are initiated on appropriate treatment
- Review patient records, keeping in mind the principle of confidentiality, to ensure that all study participants are followed up
- Work closely with the HIV counselling and testing counselling the ARV programme
- Attend all training and staff development activities
- Attend supervision meetings and team meetings as required by the Project Nurse Coordinator
Reports:
- Keep records and a log sheet of all activities as per study protocol
- Enter the necessary information in the electronic system as required
- Compile weekly and monthly reports as required, with the necessary statistics as per study protocol requirements
Requirements:
- Higher Certificate in Social Auxiliary Work, Enrolled Nursing Certificate, Communications or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage
- Traceable experience in counselling
- Experience of working in the HIV /AIDS environment will be an advantage
- Basic research experience at tertiary or practice level is recommended
- Computer literacy
- Communication and English writing skills are a prerequisite
- Ability to work independently and with a team
