The above-mentioned senior position exists within the Group Corporate Affairs Department and is responsible for providing direct leadership to the department in the achievement of set objectives and targets. The main purpose of the job is to supervise the development and drive the implementation of the CSI and ESD programs.

 

 

 

 

Job Title: Manager: Social Programs
Location: Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa

Job Summary:
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Oversee the Social programs:
•Oversees the internal social programs team.
•Maintain up to date knowledge of legislation pertaining to Social programs with specific reference as it pertains to the Society’s BBBEE rating.
•Do research around other successful corporate social programs nationally and internationally.
Manage the corporate social environment function of AVBOB:
•Formulate and maintain the Corporate Social Investment (CSI) charter.
•Manage the administrative functions pertaining to the CSI function.
•Give guidance to the personnel in the department on CSI projects and outcomes to be achieved.
•Take responsibility for all major CSI projects in terms of management, coordination with the rest of the organization and successful implementation of the projects.
•Manage the smooth running of the CSI committee.
Manage the Enterprise and Supplier Development program:
•Develop an Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) strategy for recommendation to General Manager.
•Establish long term relationships with individuals and potentially profitable businesses to promote the development of Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMES).
•Compose recommendations and submissions to the General Manager to be presented to EXCO to finance and support ESD initiatives.
•Ensure all ESD initiatives are aligned to the Group’s business strategy, B-BBEE codes of good practice and related legislation.
•Develop ESD initiatives to increase participation of the historically disadvantaged in procurement opportunities with approval of General Manager.
•Develop ESD initiatives to promote skills transfer and training of the historically disadvantaged to enhance the Group’s service offering and to boost local economies with approval of General Manager.
Human Resources:
•Manage the departmental team in the achievement of set objectives and targets.
•Determine the Human Resources requirements, permanent and contractors, in accordance with the expected deliveries.
•Secure the Human Resource requirements to ensure that deliverables will be met in accordance with the expected targets.
•Track and monitor performance in accordance with policies and procedures and performance planning documentation.
•Continuously provide feedback and coaching to ensure that the staff member/ s perform at optimum productivity level.
•Ensure identification of critical skills essential for sustainability of service delivery and the development of succession plans.
Financial:
•Provide appropriate information to feed into the annual budget process and identify any and all costs within the area of functional responsibility to General Manager.
•Determine financial allocations in accordance with deliverables.
•Compile a comprehensive budget indicating the financial requirement of each element in the social programs.
•Monitor the expenditure against the budget and ensure that spending occurs within the budgetary restrictions.
•Receive and analyse the monthly financial statements to enable reporting.
Compile monthly reports indicating:
•Monthly expenditure.
•Program objectives achieved.
•Exposure of programs in the media.
•Planned activities for the coming months.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:
•Bachelor’s degree

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
•5 Years’ experience in relevant field.

TECHNICAL AND BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
•Ability to develop strategies based in industry trends and developments.
•Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, especially when working with multiple projects/ teams.
•Excellent management, negotiation, listening, and verbal and written communication skills.
•Decisiveness and strong problem solving, especially under stress.
•Ability to develop and maintain relationships.
•Experience in budgeting and cost control.
