Job Title: Chief Evaluator

Job Summary:
The role is required to manage/supervise and coordinate all activities covering sampling, stope width control, grade control and measurements. The role is required to provide direction to mining and assist the business unit in the management of the ore reserves (Ore reserve control and accounting). The role must manage and supervise a team of Samplers and their assistants to ensure accurate departmental production throughout, through efficient performance of all field work, data capturing, data processing and system usage and report generation tasks.

Main Role Outcomes:
•To provide direction to mining and assist the business unit in the management of the ore reserves (Ore reserve control and accounting).
•Manage and supervise a team of Samplers and their assistants to ensure accurate departmental production throughout.
•Ensuring that the departmental personnel have an understanding of the specific business/production processes, equipment and machinery and their impact on evaluation
•Quality control for the department
•Effective application of standards and procedures for the evaluation systems
•General system management, administration and report generation for the department
•Planning for budgets
•Design and management of evaluation projects
•Selection of team members, acquisition of resources and performance measurements
•Assisting with training and development of departmental personnel
•Technical input into annual ore reserve planning
•Overall coordination and management of information gathering and interpretation for the department
•Liaison with Assay laboratories on assay result interpretation and quality control
•Capturing and representing data and information in line with organisational and stakeholder requirements and accurate and timeous reporting of data and information
•Adherence to standardisation requirements, policies, procedures and operating standards related to the role
•Participating in the identification of defects and improvement opportunities
•Successful teamwork and collaboration with stakeholders
•Adherence to organisational and legislative safety requirements

Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
•Grade 12 Certificate
•Chamber of Mines’ Advance Valuation Certificate
•Mining relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. B-Tech or BSc) an advantage
•Minimum 5 years relevant experience in evaluation, sampling and grade control management.
•Ability to communicate with people on different levels
•Computer literate, good command of Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
•Valid Certificate of physical fitness
•Drivers license
