Provide support and assistance, under the direction of the DIO OR Trg (K) Training Safety Marshall (TSM), for the maintenance / upkeep of the DIO Training Estate and to support the training audience whilst conducting training.

Job Title: 8 x RANGE WARDEN NYATI BARRACKS (ALL AREAS)

Salary: Ksh 46,985.00 – 46,985.00 Monthly

Job Summary:
Main duties:
a. To assist with the clearance of DIO Training Estate prior to any training being conducted; including the liaison with and removal/ identification of persons and livestock/ wildlife from the Live Fire templates and areas.
b. To supervise temporary employed civilians (including local security, fire beaters, range walkers and administrative support LECs), both in camp and on the training area, during the deployment of exercising units.
c. To assist with the maintenance and construction of training area infrastructure (to include semi-permanent camps, harbour / admin locations).
d. To provide local knowledge and act as an interpreter during range clearance.
e. To carry out driving tasks as directed by TSM, TSM 2IC or the Senior Range Officer.
f. To have a thorough understanding of all BATUK and Kenyan Army range / training area activities, in order to be able to fully brief all users and visitors at Movement Control’s, prior to them entering the DIO Training Estate.
g. To liaise with the local community settlements to assist with relocation (periods of time), Ranch owners / managers and Kenyan Forestry Service (where applicable) regarding all matters relating to DIO Training Estate.
h. To assist and advise during Unit Recces, as directed by the TSO, on the DIO Training Estate, the local community and how to achieve maximum training from the facilities available.
i. To be proficient when tasked to work and operate within an Operations Room and Range Control.
j. To comply with and ensure that the LEC terms and conditions of service are adhered to at all times.
K. Deliver practical Wildfire awareness training to the training audience before deployment.

Secondary duties:
a. To carry out all other tasks, as directed by TSM, TSM 2IC or the Senior Range Officer, for the maintenance / upkeep of the DIO Training Estate.
b. Your main place of employment is Nyati Barracks and on occasions as directed by the TSO OR Trg (K) you may well be employed across other Training Areas.

Requirements:
Competences / Qualifications / Experience:
a. Essential:
(1) An excellent understanding of spoken Samburu/ Turkana or Swahili.
(2) A good understanding of written and spoken English.
(3) Must be fit and physically robust.
(4) Good written and verbal communications and the ability to brief from charts, maps and logbooks.
(5) Must be in possession of a clean and valid Kenyan driving licence.
(6) A good understanding of map reading and navigation.

b. Desirable:
(1) Familiar with IT software systems.
(2) FMT 600 with Land Rover
