Job Summary:
The Data Analyst will ensure that data across all platforms in the firm is collected, maintained, processed, analysed and reported as required. The data analyst will support the firm’s data quality drive by identifying data gaps and establishing procedures and implementing data systems to monitor and optimise data quality.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
•Collaborate with team members to acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and to keep data up to date as part of the end to end data quality drive
•Review and define new data collection techniques as required
•Identify, analyse and interpret trends or patterns in data sets
•Identify and address data gaps for new as well as historical data across the different platforms
•Set up procedures and develop and/or maintain databases/data systems to monitor and optimise data quality and consistency within the firm
•Use graphs, infographics and other methods to provide insights to stakeholders
•Structure large data sets to find usable information
•Create reports for internal teams and/or external clients and stakeholders
•Create presentations and reports to enable decision making
•Handle confidential information responsibly
•Keep abreast with best practices.
•Respond to queries regarding data within the organisation
•Work with the data privacy champion and data governance team to establish guidelines and protocols that govern data protection
•With knowledge transfer from the Risk / Compliance department ensure data adheres to changing Regulatory requirements.
•Develop a Data Dictionary and Regulatory definitions documents to be used across business.
•Work with executives and other business leaders to identify opportunities for improvement
Requirements:
Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:
•Relevant degree in Information Science, Computer Science or Commerce
•2-4 years in a similar role (e.g. master data management)
•Solid understanding of Data Structures, Types, Relationships, and system Data relationships.
•Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
Technical Competencies:
•Advanced Excel skills
•Excellent understanding of data analytics
•SQL query capability or MS Query and strong relation DB understanding
•Reporting skills like Power BI, SSRS or Business Objects
•Exposure to Microsoft R (advantage).
