Job Title: Senior Manager – Public Sector Risk Advisory
Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa

Job Summary:
BDO South African has a vacancy on Senior Manager – Public Sector in its Risk Advisory Services Department in its Johannesburg office.

Reporting to the Director the Senior Manager will inter alia be responsible for:

•Business Development;
•Managing Client relationships;
•Planning of Audit Projects;
•Managing resources and WIP;
•Management of day to day activities of assignments (from execution to reporting);
•Attend Audit Committees

•B.Com Honours in Accounting and CA(SA) / B.Com Honours in Internal Auditing and CIA
•CISA added advantage

•5 – 8 years Senior Management experience in the public sector
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience in public sector external audit
•Minimum of 3 years’ experience in public sector consulting
•Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Internal Auditing
•Extensive experience in Supply Chain Management / Financial Management
•Extensive experience in review and / or preparation of GRAP, IFRS and MCS Annual Financial Statements

General Competencies:
•Excellent leadership skills

•Excellent English written and oral communication skills
•Demonstrated ability to present and explain complex issues
•Demonstrated ability to negotiate and achieve consensus of recommendations to reduce risk or improve operations
•Proficiency with MS Office 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI

Technical competencies:
•Expert knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, Municipal Finance Management Act and its regulations and relevant legislative frameworks as applied
•Expert knowledge of Supply Chain Management Instruction and Practice Notes, including Best Practices applied through global supply chain guidelines
•Expertise in risk and control field with excellent industry and business knowledge in the public sector
•Ability to issue technical accounting opinions
•Knowledge of CASEWare
•Strong business acumen
•Demonstrated leadership skills
•Sales and negotiation skills
•Ability to manage and execute projects
•Demonstrated execution of complex projects to profitable outcomes
•Skilled in drafting and presenting client proposals
•Excellent report writing skills
