BDO has a vacancy for a Commercial Legal Consultant with Privacy Law expertise within the BDO Legal business unit. The incumbent will have a dual reporting role to the Group Chief Operating Officer and the Head of Legal Services and will be based in Johannesburg.

 

 

Job Title: Privacy Law Legal Consultant
Location: Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South Africa

Contract Type: Permanent

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
•Privacy Law – POPI, GDPR
•Commercial contract drafting and review.
•Drafting legal documents, including opinions, memoranda.
•Advising on legal nature of commercial transactions.
•Advising on, and giving effect to, corporate structures and restructuring.
•Compiling legal risk registers and legal due diligences.
•Private law matters (Wills & Estates) and Trusts.
•Providing overall legal and administrative support to the Head of Legal.
•Strengthen relationships of existing client portfolio and build effective relationships with clients.
•Business Development.

QUALIFICATIONS
•LLB Degree (Essential).
•Post-graduate Privacy Law Qualification/Training.
•Admitted as an attorney (advantageous).

EXPERIENCE
•3-5 years’ experience in a corporate commercial environment, either in-house or at a reputable law firm.
•Assessing, advising on and implementation of data privacy measures.
•Drafting and negotiating of commercial agreements.
