Job Title: Technical Support Engineer: Port Elizabeth (RFID20)
Location: Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South Africa

Job Summary:
The Technical Support Engineer will need to manage all the company product technical support tasks, by ensuring that the client’s issues are adhered to and work efficiently. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the daily support tasks that will ensure efficient and coordinated business activities as well as to develop new products and services.

Educational Requirements:
•Matric with programming.
•Post Matric qualification in technology hardware and software support will be to the benefit of the applicant.

Experience:
•Minimum of 2-3 years of technology hardware and software operational support experience.
•The ability to program various hardware devices (based on manufacturer specs or utilising appropriate scripting languages, as
applicable).
•Experience in RFID Technologies, including RFID Hardware and RFID Middleware Software will be beneficial.
•The ability to complete the required hardware and software testing of RFID Solutions as part of overall Informatics Solutions.

Knowledge and Skills:
•Electronic assembly and understanding of circuitry and electronics
•Writing diagrams and schematic diagrams
•Coding knowledge in SQL Programming and database manipulation will be beneficial.
•Essential radio frequency identification (RFID) knowledge, UHF and LF primarily.
•Basic knowledge of how to assemble and disassemble equipment.
•Understanding of circuitry/electronics

•Strong computer literacy
•Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English is a requirement

Responsibilities:
•Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
•Plans and performs assignments of a wide degree of difficulty.
•Performs developmental and test work that relies heavily on a comprehensive knowledge of theory and design.
•Receives general direction and exercises considerable discretion as to personal work details.
•May evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services.
•Qualify the solutions (Scanners, readers and RFID solutions) with appropriate testing information for distribution worldwide,
including associated testing documentation and safety regulations.
•Responsible for identifying associated hardware as part of the overall solution from off-the-shelf products and integrate them for
form, fit, and function.
•Program hardware devices based on manufacturer specifications and customise for development and test environments.
•Write test protocols and execute them based on the approved quality system.
•Complete fault isolation, troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities during system integration and testing of systems in the
development phase.
•Collaborate with the Shift DX team members to ensure continuous improvement and iterative evolution of informatics
applications.
•Work with cross-functional teams and provide requested deliverables per project schedules.
•Quantifies Risks: Identifies and quantifies technical risks and their consequences relative to the overall success of the project;
recommends appropriate actions.
•Aligns Strategy to Customer Needs: Modifies operational practices and technical recommendations to accommodate internal and
external customer needs.
•Recommends Responses to Technical Trends: Synthesises technical and customer information to analyse and recommend
responses to market and competitive trends; Develops new or refines existing processes or components for systems.
