Job Title: Senior Financial Manager: BLD

Job Summary:
Responsible for execution financial accounting, budgeting, cost benefit analysis, auditing, cash management and other fiscal operations and functions. Developing appropriate accounting and operational systems, establishing necessary financial and operational controls, approving various expenditures and obligations, planning and coordinating internal and external audits, and ensuring all activities conform to statutory legislation (incl IFRS, Taxation Regulations and other applicable legislation) and company policies and
procedures

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Management:
Prepare and analyze accurate monthly financial and management reports across all 41 segments/functional areas, including income statement, balance sheet, budget and variance, projections and forecast, and cash flow.
Produce detailed quarterly cash flow forecasts to form the basis for working capital
Develop annual budgets in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer, Functional Area Exec heads and BLD Managing Director and SA Distribution CEO.
Manage, enhance and review weekly and periodic KPIs to ensure they are insightful, error free and issued to agreed timelines
Ensure that all balance sheet reconciliations are produced on an accurate and timely basis to include bank reconciliations, debtors, creditors and inter-company account
Ensure that all financial transactions are processed accurately, in a timely manner, and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Identify and implement improvements to business processes to increase efficiency and ensure all costs are recorded accurately in the accounts.
Challenge and review results to seek opportunities to increase income/reduce costs and risks
Perform month-end closing procedures, including overhead allocations, account reconciliations, and updating schedules.
Performing analyses, build a business case to review opportunity and profitability.
Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
Review of expenses for accuracy to identify any cost saving areas.
Monthly review of expense reporting to be completed before deadline to enable Identification of any discrepancies.
Reconciliation of inter-company accounts.
Ensure rebates receivable, on-going revenue and connection bonuses are recorded accurately, reconciled and recovered Tax and Vat returns are reviewed and submitted correctly before SARS deadlines to prevent penalties and interest.
Ensure assets, loans and receivables, payables and inventory are accounted for correctly and in line with IFRS.
Management of fixed assets.
Review of depreciation calculations.
Ensure all tax and vat submissions are reviewed timeously and submitted to SARS within deadlines.

Insightful Reporting:
Provide useful financial insights to help make better decisions about formulating and executing strategy, and provide guidance and analysis to executive and operational management to improve results
Produce and distribute monthly management reports to agreed time scales
Assist in coordinating the preparation of the draft audited financial statements and all tax returns.
Coordinate the preparation of financial information in the corporate annual report.
Recommend and report upon benchmarks against which to measure organizational performance.
Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.
Assist in production of cash flow reports, annual budget, and forecasts.
Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
Provide for a system of management cost reports.
Provide financial analyses and models as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
Perform financial analysis, reporting and management activities.
Preparation of information for external reporting.
Review financial data for accuracy, correctness and completeness.

Financial Controls and Corporate Governance:
Maintain and enhance financial controls ensuring accuracy and robustness of reporting and budgeting processes
Continuous improvement through standardization of manual processes.
Monitoring and measurement of work output against credit policy.
Identify risks in processes and controls and mitigate these risks through various mediums.
Ensure adherence to processes and controls put in place by management.
Responsible to implement controls and processes.
Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
Establish and maintain financial management mechanisms that reduce financial risk.
Design and Implement controls and procedures.
Ensure efficient functioning of financial systems.
Continuous review of the relevant accounting systems to ensure more efficient and effective reporting.
Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements relating to financial control, financial management and accounting
Ensure appropriate external audit arrangements are in place and manage the audit process
Ensure appropriate external and internal audit arrangements are in place and manage the audit process.

Corporate Governance:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior executives so as to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions.
Provide executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities.
Ensure credibility of Finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts.
Ensure the organisation complies with statutory legislation and corporate governance frameworks.
Advise on the formulation policies and procedures in line with relevant legislation and ensure implementation thereof.
Preparation of BLD Board Packs to ensure accurate reporting of company information to relevant stakeholders.
Preparation of Regional Reporting Analysis for Operations monthly.
