BP South Africa’s Downstream Challenge Programme offers the opportunity to develop in key areas of the business and secure yourself a career in one of the world’s major energy companies.
What is the Downstream Challenge Programme?
Downstream Challenge is BP’s early development programme for technical and professional disciplines within the downstream segment. The aim of the programme is to build fully competent independent professionals within the disciplines to support the business delivery across the South African Business. It is a competency based-based programme which provides graduates with practical experience and formal learning while building discipline foundations.

There are three general disciplines we recruit into – engineering, science and business. But the opportunities within each of these are incredibly diverse. So whichever area you join us in, you could find yourself applying your talents at any point in the energy supply chain.
How long will I be a Challenger?
Downstream Challenge can last between two and three-and-a-half years and may consist of rotations depending on the business discipline requirements. The actual time could be longer or shorter depending on individual circumstances and experience.
