Role Synopsis
The Convenience Manager is responsible for providing Leadership and Strategic direction to the Retail Convenience team in order to deliver financial and operational targets which include effective buying and category management, defining operational standards and HSSE.
Key accountabilities
Continuously design and build ways of working within the Convenience team and broader Retail team to ensure delivery of in year plan and strategic objective Build effective relationships with team members, internal interfaces ,key suppliers and wholesalers, and acts as the primary point of contact for convenience to ensure alignment of current activities with future strategic direction Ensures the effective delivery of buying, range, space, pricing and supply chain management in order to contribute to the successful implementation of the retail strategy and trading plans Builds a culture of operational excellence through driving continuous improvement mindset and motivating the team Focuses on performance by creating and monitoring performance measures , having periodical reviews and coaching to optimise results or to effect consequences where needed Monitor Market trends, analyse internal and external information, to determine appropriate activities to keep ahead of the environmental shocks and take opportunities of relevant insights.
Essential Education
A Degree qualified and a relevant post graduate qualification.
Essential experience and job requirements
15 – 20 years extensive background in retail, particularly convenience, of which 5 years should be in leadership role. Must have operated at a strategic and operational levels, fully abreast of competitor market intelligence and proven ability to respond to market conditions. Ability to lead and manage a team and engage key stakeholders. Strong influencing and networking skills. Strong analytical capability, commercial acumen and high attention to detail. Strong negotiation skills. Strong relationship building and people management.
