The Breteau Foundation (BF) aims to enable underprivileged children to reach their full potential through the delivery of digital educational tools. The Foundation is operational in 32 schools worldwide with plans to increase this number to 50 in 2016.
Job Title: Programme Manager
Job Location: Cape Town

Duration: Temporary position (maternity leave replacement).
The purpose of the Programme Manager is to act as the South African Country Education Manager and will be responsible for the successful management and implementation of the BF’s program in South Africa.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the development and implementation of the BF program
- Ensure that the BF program is consistent and constantly improving in all BF schools in South Africa and that it is aligned to the overarching annual strategic plans of the BF
- Monitor the vision and strategic plans through regular visits and the gathering of feedback, as well as monitor progress and record best practices
- Lead the BF teacher training program ensuring both best practice and resource creation is uniform globally and of high quality
- Oversee the collection, organisation and creation of educational content provided to schools
- Manage all participants supporting the programme including principals, teachers, Education Assistants and volunteers
- Manage and continually improve upon curriculum mapping, teacher training materials and any new apps or modifications to the program
- Source and manage local suppliers of hardware and accessories
- Provide IT support when necessary, liaising with London Project Manager
- Implement the BF research strategy as directed by BF Research Manager which will entail the gathering of data from participating schools
- Report regularly and on time on all aspects of the program to the General Manager
- Seek opportunities for networking with businesses, NGOs and government bodies, and build strong strategic partnerships for BF
- Recommend schools/partners for our program in the country and the region
- Act as the Breteau Foundation’s Ambassador in Country
Requirements:
- Teaching qualification (preferred)
- Minimum of five years’ teaching experience
- Knowledge and pedagogical understanding of early childhood education
- Experience and knowledge of education system in country (preferred)
- Skills and experience in the development and delivery of teacher training (preferred)
- Skills and experience in the use of technology in Education
- Project management skills
- Ability to manage project budgets and project reporting
- Ability to manage and support team members
- Experience of working with staff in schools and partners at all levels including senior management
- Local language and English proficiency
- Willing to Travel for visits to schools in country, as well as other BF related events
- Passionate in the organisation’s mission
- Ethical standards and personal integrity
