We are seeking a Relief General Manager to provide temporary leadership and management support for our esteemed game lodge. As a Relief General Manager, you will oversee all aspects of lodge operations in the absence of the General Manager, ensuring the delivery of exceptional guest experiences and the smooth functioning of the lodge.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Provide strong leadership and guidance to all lodge staff, fostering a positive and cohesive team environment.
- Guest Experience: Ensure the highest levels of guest satisfaction by maintaining impeccable standards of service, hospitality, and guest interactions.
- Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day lodge operations, including front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance, and recreational activities.
- Financial Management: Monitor financial performance, including revenue, expenses, and budgets, and implement strategies to optimize profitability and cost efficiency.
- Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise lodge staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Quality Control: Maintain standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and safety throughout the lodge, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Guest Relations: Handle guest inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally, resolving issues to the satisfaction of guests and management.
- Marketing and Sales: Support marketing and sales initiatives to promote the lodge and attract guests, including participation in promotional events and partnerships.
- Community Engagement: Build positive relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and conservation organizations, contributing to sustainable tourism practices.
- Emergency Response: Coordinate emergency response procedures and ensure staff are trained to respond effectively to emergencies, including medical incidents and wildlife encounters.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports for management on lodge performance, guest feedback, staff issues, and other relevant matters.
- General Maintenance: Oversee routine maintenance and repairs of lodge facilities, vehicles, and equipment, ensuring they are well-maintained and in good working order.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a management role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a game lodge or similar wilderness setting.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff to deliver exceptional service.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and hands-on approach to management.
- Sound financial management skills, with the ability to analyze financial data, prepare budgets, and control costs.
- Knowledge of wildlife conservation principles and ecotourism practices is desirable.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to remote locations.
