Job Title: DEPUTY SHEF

Salary: KSh 89,875.00 – 123,000.00 Monthly

Job Summary:
1 x DEPUTY SHEF
The Deputy SHEF is the principle focal point responsible to the Comd BATUK through SO2 SHEF for the delivery of Sustainable Development (SD). Secondary duties are the HN Aspects of Health and Safety within BATUK and the Kifaru Bks local SHEF POC. They report to and are tasked by the SO2 SHEF. They are to implement and manage the BATUK EMS ensuring compliance with the Host Nation (HN) Legislation pertaining to all SD aspects within BATUK. The incumbent is to provide DIO with SD advice for any new works which have an environmental aspect. They are to deputise for the SO2 SHEF in periods of absence and advise on all aspects of HN SD and H&S polices ensuring that BATUK SHEMs are current and compliant with HN requirements of SHEF. They are required to travel to any areas within Kenya and stay overnight on request.

Main duties:
a.Provide the COC with SME advice on all aspects of SD within BATUK.
b.Implement and manage the BATUK EMS.
c.Carry out SD and OSH inspections of the workplace.
d.Submission of accident/incident reports.
e.Organise all aspects of SHE, Fire Safety and First Aid Trg for the LEC workforce.
f.Be the SHEF POC for Kifaru.
g.Be the SPOC for the HN authorities for all aspects of SHEF.
h.Maintain the BATUK SHEF Manual, Part 3.

Secondary Duties:
a.Act as the secretary for the BATUK Safety Committee and other meetings as directed.
b.Deputise for the SO2 SHEF during periods of absence.
c.Carry out any other duties commensurate with the trade/grade as directed by the LM.

Requirements:
Competencies/qualifications/experience:

a.Essential:
(1)Degree in Environmental Science.
(2)A NEBOSH diploma in Occupational Safety and Health.
(3)Minimum of two years’ experience working in an occupational safety, health and environment role.
(4)An excellent understanding of English, both verbal and written.
(5)Hold a Cat B, car driving licence.
(6)Experience in carrying out SHEP inspections of the workplace.

b.Desirable:

(1)Experienced at maintaining spreadsheets, producing reports and completing returns.
(2)Experience at working within a British Army Environment.
