Appointment requirements:
An appropriate three (3) year tertiary career-related qualification (Degree or National Diploma) in Civil engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Building management, Building Science, Building Survey or Quantity Survey or equivalent qualification
Relevant post qualification experience in a building office environment in a Local Government
Valid Code B driver’s license
Own vehicle
Computer literate
Personal attributes / competencies:
Communication skills; Interpersonal abilities; Adaptability
Stress management ability; Must be able to work as a team and/or independently
Duties:
Examine and approve all Building Plans Applications against compliance with the National Building Regulations, Town Planning Schemes and other relevant applicable laws.
Examine Site Development Plan Applications against compliance with the National Building Regulations, Town Planning Schemes and other relevant applicable laws.
Examine Building Line Relaxation Applications against compliance with the National Building Regulations, Town Planning Schemes and other relevant applicable laws.
Examine Applications regarding Encroachment of Building Restriction Areas against compliance with the National Building Regulations, Town Planning Schemes and other relevant applicable laws.
Examine Applications regarding Relaxation of Height Restrictions against compliance with the National Building Regulations, Town Planning Schemes and other relevant applicable laws.
Assist and advise public, other departments and Building Control personnel with technical issues regarding the National Building Regulations, Town Planning Schemes and other relevant applicable laws.
Do site inspections if and when necessary.
Training of newly appointed Plan Examiners in accordance to the National Building Regulations and other related legislation.
