Cape Town Airport Job Opportunity: Senior Electrician

Key Performance Outputs:

Performing maintenance activities on Airfield, Landside and Terminal Building electrical installations.
Execute switching operations on the MV network.
Ensuring a clean and safe environment at all times.
Perform inspections and write reports.
Complete new installations and project related activities where required.
Maximising infrastructure in a sustainable manner at the lowest operating and maintenance cost.
Ensuring compliance with the OHSACT and ICAO standards.

Technical Skills and Experience:

• Grade 12 and a minimum N3 technical qualification and/or equivalent prior learning and experience based on the job requirements within the position.
• Completed an apprenticeship and trade test. Minimum 2 years airfield experience as an electrician or alternatively 5 years outside airports experience.
• At least 2 years experience in MV switching and Protection.
• Basic knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (Siemens S7), standby generating plants and uninterruptable power supplies (UPS).
• Wireman’s licence will be advantageous.
• Valid code B or EB drivers licence.
• Be computer literate.

Able to handle constant change and respond with a sense of urgency, ability to use own sound initiative under critical circumstances, must have sound technical knowledge of all relevant systems and equipment, energetic and able to work in different environments and without supervision, must be customer orientated, must have good technical and functional skills, and good problem solving ability.
