Cape Town Multi Service Centre (CTMSC) is a registered Child and Youth Care Centre (CYCC). they are able to accommodate up to 35 boys (only) between the ages of 10-18 years old. CTMSC receives funding from (DSD) for 1 social work post at the CYCC.

 

 

Job Title: Social worker
Location: Cape Town
Start date: as soon as possible, or in January 2019
Remuneration: R16 500 per month / R198 000 annually

The purpose of this position is to be prepared and willing to work alongside the Director to think strategically about the programmes for the children at the centre and assist in the process of redesigning systems relating to the care of the children and the functioning of the centre.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Social Work
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with children (experience working in the field of child protection or in a CYCC beneficial)
  • Valid code B Driver’s Licence
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email)
  • Verbal and written communication in English (and Afrikaans)
  • Knowledge of social work theory and intervention
  • Professional ethics
  • Presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to lead a team / Leadership skills /team work skills
  • Planning and organisational skills

Responsibilities:

  • Meet the requirements and targets for service provision as stipulated by the Department of Social
  • Development (DSD).
  • Facilitate therapeutic intervention with the children:
  • Group and Individual
  • Communication with external (statutory) social workers
  • Facilitate communication between the children and their families:
  • Plan for visits/placements during long weekends and holidays
  • Function within and lead a multi-disciplinary team
  • Supervise and monitor child care workers
  • Monitoring of programmes run by CCWs
  • Administration (process notes, filing/ record-keeping, report-writing, email correspondence)
  • Compile quarterly progress reports for DSD
  • Implement and monitor the behaviour management programme in partnership with the CCWs
