Capital Media South Africa Recruits for Editor

Capital Media is Pretoria’s most read community newspaper and is part of CTP/Caxton group of companies, they are recruiting for Editor to be based in South Africa

Interested parties with extensive experience in journalism, preferably with community newspapers, of which at least eight years is in a senior editorial management capacity, are invited to apply for the position of Editor of all the Capital Media publications. The successful candidate will form part of Capital Media’s dynamic management team, with the responsibility to publish all Capital Media’s publications successfully.

It will be expected of the candidate to, in consultation with company management, establish the editorial policy for all Capital Media’s publications and to purposefully manage the newspapers in the appropriate style, layout, appearance, content and language.
The candidate must posses strong leadership skills and will be in control of the editorial department where the editorial processes and editorial personnel are linked with all the other company functions to publish newspapers successfully within set deadlines.

Requirements
An appropriate tertiary qualification.
Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English with exceptional language expertise and language skills.
Extensive editorial- and management experience on senior level in the newspaper industry.
Good people skills in liaising with the general public, co-management personnel as well as subordinate personnel.
Computer literate.
Must be willing to work after hours.
