Cell C is currently recruiting for a Senior Tax Analyst to join their dynamic team.
Job Title: Senior Tax Analyst
Location: Gauteng
Job Summary:
Duties & Responsibilities:
To ensure all group companies comply with the requirements of the South African tax legislation with regards to all direct and indirect taxes.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Tax Compliance
Prepare quarterly, half-yearly and annual tax calculations for all group companies (current and deferred tax calculations) for review.
Prepare relevant accounting journals for review.
Consolidate group tax calculations to determine the group tax charge for review.
Prepare tax rate reconciliation for all companies and group for review.
Prepare tax disclosure note for financial statements for review. (annual, half yearly and quarterly) for all companies and group.
Prepare annual income tax returns and supporting schedules within specified time frames for review and submission.
Calculate and submit provisional tax returns for review and submission.
Reconcile all income tax assessments received from SARS for review.
Reconcile balances per SARS’s statements of account to the assessments issued.
Prepare queries or objections in respect of incorrect tax assessments, with solid grounds for objection for review and lodging.
Apply for extensions for the rendition of income tax and provisional tax returns, where necessary.
Indirect Tax Compliance:
Prepare monthly VAT returns for all VAT registered companies, within required deadlines for review and subsequent submission by the Senior Manager: Tax.
Ensure payment to SARS within deadline to avoid interest and penalty charges.
Prepare monthly VAT reasonability reports to ensure validity of input and output tax, for review by Senior Manager: Tax.
Liaise with relevant departments with regards to issues identified and ensure that it is resolved within the relevant VAT period.
Reconcile balances per SARS statements of accounts to returns submitted.
Prepare queries or objections where warranted, to be reviewed and lodged by the Senior Manager: Tax.
Take responsibility for the accuracy of reconciliations and submission to SARS.
Tax Advisory:
Conduct reviews of contracts for direct and indirect tax impacts and advise business units on best way to structure contracts to minimise risks for CellC and maximise tax efficiency.
Advise business on the direct and indirect tax implications of various projects by applying principles of the Income Tax Act, VAT Act and TAA.
Ensure that Cell C makes use of all available tax incentives.
Drafting Voluntary disclosure applications to be submitted to SARS.
Reviewing SARS statement of accounts and following up with SARS regarding any outstanding amounts.
General:
Ensure tax compliance is up to date, in order to ensure that the tax clearance certification is in order.
Supply audit support to internal and external audit.
Address all SARS queries in a professional manner and within specified time frames for review by Senior Manager: Tax.
Manage all SARS correspondence with regards to all taxes.
Changes in the way of working, requires systems and process improvements to ensure the proper accounting treatment of all taxes. The employee is required to facilitate and support the required process improvements as the needs are identified and ensure that accounting records correctly reflect the liability and expenses relating to all taxes.
Prepare IT14SD reconciliation with regards to all taxes for review by Senior Manager: Tax.
Perform any other related duties as requested by Management
Desired Experience & Qualification:
Qualifications:
B.Com. Honors (Accounting) Degree with Articles or Tax qualification
CA(SA) qualification preferable
Experience:
3-5 Years’ experience in direct and indirect taxes.
Experience in Telecommunications industry will be an added advantage.
