Purpose of the Job
To lead large scale projects on a full life cycle basis, both internally and externally, from concept to production in order to ensure the successful completion of the projects by applying best practice standards and principles, thus delivering both the entire large scale projects in line with the project scope and the clients requirements.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
•Project planning and management from concept to production
•Apply appropriate project standards, methodology, processes and tools in project management
•Determine an appropriate work breakdown structure per project
•Develop project charters, aligning cross-functional resources with respective responsibilities
•Define and allocate necessary resources and skills on the project and manage utilization
•Define project phases and major life-cycle milestones
•Project status tracking and reporting
•Develop the WBS ( Work Breakdown Structure) in order to deliver on the project scope.
•Management of project level risks and issues
•Target delivery of projects within approved budget, timescales and quality
•End-to-end management of the testing process as part of the delivery process; including business simulation
•Quality assurance at project-level
•Change control in terms of project-level impact
•Monitor the overall project progress, initiating corrective action, as appropriate, to ensure that deliverables are produced on time, within budget and expected quality
•Monitors and controls project team performance against plans
•Manage Supplier Relationship both technical and budget aspects
•Develop and maintain constructive relationships with vendors at all levels.
•Manage the vendor deliverables on both a functional/process and system/technical level.
•Attend regular meetings with vendors to ensure projects are running smoothly.
•Manage the risk profile and develop contingency plans to ensure the critical success factors are addressed timeously
3.Health and Safety Compliance.
•Conform and adhere to Safety, Health and Environmental legislative requirements.
•Report any health and safety concerns/incidents in the workplace to the manager / health and safety representative.
•Assist Cell C to establish and maintain a fully compliant Healthy and Safe Work Environment.
•Attend the Safety, Health and Environmental workshops as required by management.
4.Cost and Budget Management.
•Accountable for the finance commitments of the project.
•Manage the approved budget for each project.
•Prepare cost tracking and variation reports.
•Make recommendations for budget-affecting change requests.
•Inform Management timeously of over-spend.
5.Management of the Project Team both internal and external.
•Lead the Project Team in order to deliver the entire project life cycle within the agreed scope.
•Select and manage resources
•Manage multi-disciplinary teams of experts
6.Perform any other related duties as requested by Management.
Skills & Experience
• 5 years experience in Technical Project Management.
• Experience in Leading Large Scale Project Teams (matrix and 3rd party External Client management) with proven success
• IT BSS/OSS, ERP and / or Mobile telecoms project delivery
• Full Financial accountability
• Budget control
• Resource Scheduling inclusive of 3rd party vendors….external clients
• Degree in Project Management qualification. With accreditation for PM (NQF 6 level)
• Diploma only accepted with further accreditation e.g. PMP qualification. (International qualification)
