The Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR) is a non-governmental organisation which envisions societies that are peaceful, equal and free from violence. CSVR aims to understand and prevent violence, heal its effects and build sustainable peace at community, national and regional levels. We do this through collaboration with and learning from the lived and diverse experiences of communities affected by violence and conflict to inform innovative interventions, generate knowledge, shape public discourse, influence policy, hold states accountable and promote gender equality, social cohesion and active citizenship.

Job Title: Administrators [2 Positions]
Job Location: Johannesburg

This is a full-time one-year contract (with the possibility of renewal pending funding).

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and organise workshops and seminars, including logistical support for international conferences
  • Liase with clients, contractors, partner organisations and stakeholders
  • Maintain data and files on project activities and information
  • Assist with financial transactions on day to day project activities: keep petty cash, complete requisitions and track payments
  • Provide operational and logistical support to programme staff for day to day activities
  • Manage contracts with partners, submit and track payment requests
  • Provide administrative support to the programme as a whole when needed regarding contracts, scheduling, shipping, travel, photocopying, faxing, filing, etc

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of three years’ administration experience and familiarity with the NGO sector
  • An easy approachable manner, oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with a variety of different people
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and other applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, internet and email)
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure, meet deadlines and be organised and detailed-oriented
  • Basic financial skills creditors, debtors, managing petty cash, cheque processing, etc
