Centurion Hospice is located in Lyttelton, Centurion and serves the communities of Centurion, Midrand, Laudium, Olievenhoutbosch and surrounding areas. Centurion Hospice provides palliative care including symptom and pain management, grief and bereavement support through a team of professionally qualified nurses and social workers. Nobody is turned away.

Job Title: Palliative Nursing Sister
Job Location: Pretoria

Responsibilities:

• Attend to and provide care for patients within the guidelines of nursing act and the philosophy of the organisation
• Develop and implement a nursing plan for each individual patient
• Provide pain and symptom control in accordance with the patient’s medical advisory team
• Provide relevant support to the family
• Refer patients to other specialised services if and when so required
• Maintain all patient data in accordance with the requirements of the law, instructions from the medical team and within the guidelines of Centurion Hospice
• Perform other duties, as and when so requested, in support of team goals

Requirements:

• Diploma in General Nursing or Degree in Nursing Science
• Registration with the Nursing Counsel of South Africa
• Diploma or certificate in Palliative Care will be an advantage
• minimum of five years’ related experience
• Computer Literacy: Microsoft Office
• Unendorsed driver’s licence
• Fluency in at least two official languages
• An understanding of palliative care and its role in society (added advantage)
• Resilience and the ability to deal with stress
• Interpersonal sensitivity
• Good judgement and decision making skills
