Job Title: Linkage Officers

Job Location: To be based at Johannesburg.

Responsibilities:

• Liaise with counsellors with regards to reactive clients
• Link all reactive clients to nearest facility within 72 hours
• Update linkage handover register daily
• Collect index consented case list daily from HTS camps
• Initiate index HIV counselling and testing to all index consenting clients
• Conduct counselling sessions as per PICT protocols
• Assist clients in the selection of appropriate community support services
• Ensure that counselling mobile kit is well equipped to provide high quality testing services
• Carry out rapid HIV tests according to approved testing protocols
• Record and report accurate HIV test results to clients
• Link all reactive clients directly to the facility and obtain further index consent
• Update the HTS register for all clients tested
• Refer all discordant test results to nearest facility for further management
• Monitor stock levels for rapid test kits and related commodities in the mobile counselling unit
• Ensuring that all hazardous materials are disposed of properly and according to protocol
• Carry out any other duties assigned by the Senior Counsellor
• Participate in quality assurance and improvement visits
• Ensure adherence to infection control protocols
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance procedures
• Ensure that clients’ information is properly and accurately recorded and reported
• Ensure clients confidential information is kept secured
• Ensure all data tools are given to the Senior Counsellor daily

Requirements:

• Trained on Basic HIV and AIDS Counselling
• Pricking Certificate optional (Training will be provided internally)
• Basic HIV information giving
• Minimum of one to two years’ experience as an HTS linkage officer
