Job Title: Maintenance Engineering
Location: Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Engineering Department has a position for a Maintenance Engineer for the shopping centres in the Retail Operations portfolio. If you believe you meet the requirements for this position, then please send through your CV.

Job Purpose: To manage major repairs and maintenance operations.
Assess the needs as set out by Portfolio Managers.
1.Execute regular site visits and provide feedback to Management.
2.Generating technical scope of works (including drawings/sketches where needed) and acquiring quotes based on scope of work.
3.Adjudication of quotes and recommendation and awarding of projects to contractors.
4.QAQC to ensure that work done was to CPA standards and as per agreed scope.
5.Project management skills applied to R&M work.
6.Problem identification & problem solving.
7.Audits of tenants’ premises to determine compliance with building regulations.
8.Comprehensive building inspections and preparation of R&M requirements with accurate costing for budget purposes. Short and long term budget forecasting.
9.Regular communication with various stakeholders on projects and any other R&M issues within the portfolio.
10.Coaching and mentoring of building/maintenance staff as well as contractors.

Ensure Buildings are compliant to bylaws.
1.Regular site visits and consultations meetings with various professionals.
2.Occasionally interact with city councils regarding approval or relevant changes.

Quality Control:
1.Inspect on Quality Assurance and Quality Control to ensure that work done was to standards and according to request.
2.Communicate with contractors regarding their performance and problems being experienced.
3.Analyze the quality of work done by requesting testing and inspections of work in progress.

Working conditions:
Site and office based with extensive travelling in immediate surroundings, within portfolio, will be required.

Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience:
1.Post school qualification in the building and/or construction environment – required
2.Extensive knowledge of all facets of the building and/or construction environment – required
3.Minimum 10 years’ experience in the building and/or construction environment -required
4.Registration at recognized professional body – preferred

Skills & Knowledge Required:
1.MS Office – intermediate knowledge
2.Intermediate knowledge of CAD software, reading of architectural drawings
3.Working knowledge of electrical installations, motors & pumps
4.Extensive knowledge of plumbing & stormwater
5.Working knowledge of HVAC Systems
6.Extensive all round knowledge in building repairs and maintenance
7.Working knowledge of lifts and generators
8.Extensive knowledge of building regulations as well as Health and Safety Regulations
