Job Title: Civil Engineer / Technologist

Reports to: Urban Infrastructure Department: Pietermaritzburg

Primary Objective

To form part of a project design and implementation team. The candidate shall be under direct supervision of the Project Director, and will form part of a team who may be responsible for feasibility studies, conceptual design, detail design, implementation and commissioning of projects. Service existing clients with the region and to increase our market share of the Water and Civil Infrastructure projects in the region and thereby contributing to a strong Water and Civil Services division in the Pietermaritzburg Office.

Specific Accountabilities

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following tasks:

Manage and perform Civil engineering designs to ensure project goals are achieved
General office / project administration
Support WorleyParsons in winning work and executing the work in the Durban Region
Arrange and supervise design drafting functions
Design, procurement, construction and commissioning of assigned projects.
Ensure clear agreement of client objectives and that these are met or exceeded
Conform to HSE requirements
Responsible for feasibility studies, conceptual design, detail design, implementation and commissioning of projects

Development and implementation of initiatives to improve cost effectiveness and efficiency of the project execution
Effective management and control of risks through engineering design, construction, installation, and commissioning
Maintaining design integrity and quality within the project team(s)

Job Requirements

Essential Skills/Experience

Strong technical background with a 5 to 7 years post-graduation Civil/Urban Infrastructure experience
A proven track record in design, documentation and construction management of Civil engineering projects
Sound understanding of applicable local engineering standards and codes of practice
Excellent communication skills and ability to perform as part of a team
Demonstrable commitment to HSE management in a project environment
Working knowledge of industry standard business support systems i.e. design and drawing packages, ISO9001 quality management systems
A high level of customer focus to ensure customer satisfaction

Quality Assurance knowledge, awareness and responsibility
Safety awareness and responsibility
Drivers licence and own vehicle
