Job Title: Finance Manager
Based: Savoy Estate, Johannesburg
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Key Performance Areas:
Finance, Admin, Secretarial
- Manage members of Finance Department
- Responsible for internal controls, policies and procedures
- Perform detailed check of the posting process and reconciliations
- Act as the organisation’s representative to SARS
- Responsible for Tax compliance
- Monitor VAT, PAYE and other statutory returns
- Prepare monthly cashflow
- Prepare monthly Management Accounts
- Present Financial Results at Management Meetings and Trustee Meetings
- Prepare Financial Reports for donors
- Ensure that Fixed Assets Registers are kept updated
- Oversee Credit Card Applications
- Follow up Staff Debtors Accounts
- Responsible for statutory and donor audits
- Maintain and monitor insurance programme
- Review salaries and prepare journal
- Company Secretarial Functions – Resolutions, meeting requests, minutes, attendance registers, agendas, statutory returns, etc.
- Assist with the identification and response to risks in the organisation
IT
- Responsible for general controls as well as day-to-day operations
- Supervision of IT function to ensure safe environment and operating procedures are in place
Procurement
- Responsible for internal controls, policies and procedures
- Ensure implementation of and adherence to the organisation’s Order System
- Organise and attend Vendors Committee meetings
Minimum Education, Experience and Competencies:
- ACCA or CIMA Qualification (minimum)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial planning and reporting, risk management, payroll and general office administration
- Experience working for an NGO advantageous
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent knowledge of Sage Evolution Accounting and Pastel Payroll packages, or equivalent
- Experience in financial reporting
- Understanding of local regulatory requirements of IFRS
- Good understanding of statutory submissions and compliance
- Valid Driver’s licence essential
- Proficient in written and verbal English
- Excellent report writing skills
- Attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills, have the ability to take initiative and be a team player
- Adaptability and ability to work in a fluid environment
- Planning skills
