Columba Leadership’s is an NGO that activates youth enterprise and employment by helping young people transcend their personal circumstances and offers meaningful social impact to all investors. Ngenhloso is a teacher development programme, originally incubated within Columba Leadership Trust, focusing on developing world class teachers to drive improved maths performance and cognitive acceleration of participating learners.

Programme schools are predominantly Quintile 1 – 3 schools and therefore serve some of the poorest communities. Ngenhloso recruits top quality candidates who have completed an undergraduate degree and who are eligible to enroll in a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with mathematics as one of their teaching subjects.

Candidates study through distance education towards their PGCE qualification in their first year on the programme and work full time in a partner school over the 2-year period. During this time, candidates lead learning in high school maths classrooms beginning in Grade 8 and 9.
