Job Title: Research Assistant

Purpose Of The Role Is To:
Provide a supportive role in Research study-related tasks, the overall goal of this position is to ensure the, ethical and efficient recruitment of volunteers to COVID research and to support data capture, entry and verification, as well as administrative and counselling tasks as needed.
YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO:
Recruitment, Counselling and Retention of Volunteers:
Responsible for recruitment of volunteers through:
•Conducting outreach activities
•Explaining and answering questions about the research,
•Recruit and screen volunteers from target populations
•Provide qualitative and quantitative feedback on recruitment strategies.
•Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards during recruitment
Provide counseling and data collection activities, including:
•Administering screening questionnaires
•Provide counseling to volunteers
•Properly document all counseling sessions
•Assist with the enrolment
•Provide risk-reduction counseling
Retention of Volunteers
•Obtain, verify and update detailed locator data
•Maintain locator and retention data base
•Conduct visit reminders
•Track participants as needed
•Recommending retention strategies to superiors
Research – Related Administrative Tasks:
•Ensure all applicable documentation are completed accurately
•Administer data collection instruments
•Complete, compile and submit study case report forms
•Ensure all records on participants are completed and filed accurately
•Maintain accurate study logs
•Report on daily/weekly activities
•Assist with SOP development
Liaise with External and Internal Customers:
•Liaise with all Internal Customers and External Customers
•Participate in training, meetings and other activities
Human Capital General:
•Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures
•Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve study goals
YOU SHOULD HAVE:
Qualification/Professional Membership:
•Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university
•Valid GCP certificate (Advantageous)
Experience:
•Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in similar role
•Experience in HIV counselling and testing
•Knowledge of participant recruitment and retention strategies
•Experience in community education
Skills:
•Valid Drivers Licence
•Detail orientated , diligent , honest and hardworking
•Ability to work under pressure
•Good report writing skills
•Good interpersonal skills
•Basic computer skills
