Conservation South Africa believes “People need nature to thrive “, and so its work seeks to promote and support conservation, restoration, and sustainable land use in South Africa’s Hotspots as an essential element of food security and land reform, human and economic development, and building resilience to the impacts of climate change. CSA helps local communities protect these natural habitats that support their livelihoods by helping them to acquire skills and implement initiatives help protect nature and counteract the effects of climate change and other activities that negatively affect livelihoods and put species at risk of extinction.

Job Title: Green Learning Coordinator
Job Location: Springbok, Northern Cape

Salary: Package will be commensurate with experience

This position will be on a 12 months’ contract and be based at the CSA office in Springbok.

The purpose of the Green Learning Coordinator is to coordinate and support the implementation of its Green Learning strategy to develop the local capacity required to achieve Conservation South Africa’s Rangeland Restoration Economy goals specific to conservation outcomes as outlined in CSA’s 2020 strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate of all Green learning interventions in the Namakwa demonstration landscape
  • Support the initial set-up and then implementation of all landscape Green learning interventions
  • Identify and procure specified services and resources as required for Green Learning activities
  • Verify compliance and quality assurance with regards to Green learning delivery
  • Engage in relevant stakeholder interactions within the landscape for purposes of helping establish strategic partnerships, networks and collaborations that will support effective delivery of Green Learning interventions within the landscape
  • Implement relevant Green Learning quality assurance and monitoring and evaluation tools
  • Develop and submit Green Learning activity progress reports and work plans as required by CSA management

Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification in either Education/Community Development
  • Three to five years’ relevant experience working on issues of Education within an NGO environment will be an advantage
  • Understanding of community development within the rural context
  • Proposal and report writing skills
  • Fluent in both English and Afrikaans (verbal and written)
  • Facilitation skills
  • Basic Research skills
  • Organisational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinking
  • Computer literate especially with regards to Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to present
  • Valid Code 08 driver’s license (essential)
