Our client in the telecommunications industry is looking to appoint a Technical Project Manager on a 12 months contract (Hybrid). You must have experience and solid understanding of Connectivity, Unified Communications, IoT, Cloud and Security. They must also have experience in providing telecom solutions, must have worked on multiple projects at the same time.

 

 

 

 

 

Job Title: Senior Technical Project Manager
Location: Roodepoort

Job Summary:
In addition, the role is customer facing and requires a confident, energetic and experienced individual to represent the Business Unit. The role is national specific as the BU’s clients are based nationally and will be required to be engaged on a monthly basis. The PM must work closely with the Commercial, Products and Delivery to ensure that proposed technical solutions are implemented seamlessly from start-to-finish.

Education:
Minimum of 3-year diploma preferably in an ICT discipline.
Project Management Certification: Prince II, PMBOK, PMP
5 years project management implementation experience in Connectivity, Unified Communication, IoT, Cloud and Security
Deep understanding of Cloud, Security, IoT, UCC and Connectivity
Experience engaging with and providing Telecom solutions to senior stakeholders within large enterprise client accounts.
Experience working in a medium sized organisation.

Key Deliverables:
The Technical Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of ICT customer projects within the assigned region. The appointed candidate will need to be experienced in end-to-end ICT project delivery in accordance with the company’s policies and processes.
The ICT customer projects will involve the implementation of customer solutions. The Technical Project Manager will be directly responsible for fulfilment of the customer orders and ensuring that services are delivered within expected timeframes and quality standards.
As ICT includes several technologies, the Technical Project Manager will need to be technically knowledgeable in several areas of ICT including Connectivity, Unified Communications, IOT, Cloud and Security.
Customer solutions are generally composed of standard products however bespoke solutions are also required to be implemented. The Technical Project Manager will therefore be required to collaborate with engineers, solution architects, infrastructure, finance and IT managers to co-deliver such solutions.
The Technical Project Manager will also be required to work with external teams such as contractors, suppliers and partners to drive successful delivery from each project to meet the overall objectives and deliverables.
The Technical Project Manager is accountable to the TES Regional Project Manager for the successful delivery of the assigned strategic projects.
The individual projects are highly specialized and as such the Project Manager will be required to have an in depth understanding of the Business Unit Service Delivery process. The company will provide the necessary support required for the Technical Project Manager to develop an understanding of the company’s Policies, Processes and Procedures (PPPs) pertaining to ICT technology management and service delivery.
It is important for the Technical Project Manager to familiarise themselves with such PPPs as they will be expected to analyse and provide in depth explanations to the customers. In addition, the process of timeous and effective decision-making will need to be facilitated and at times escalated to relevant line.
External Project Managers will have an explicit objective for skills transfer, and measurable targets for the support of the company’s own development of ICT project management capability.
Work closely with Sales, Account Management and Service Delivery teams to design solutions and architectures that align with customers’ business requirements.
Conceptualise and design technical solutions required to address customer requirements and recommend solutions which balance business returns and value to clients.
Contribute to the development, review and analysis of the ICT Products and Services roadmaps to ensure alignment with client requirements.
Lead the development and delivery of customised Use-Case demonstrations and Proof of Concept initiatives.

Responsibilities:
Initiate Project Kick-off meeting.
Formalize and arrange the Project Teams (and ensure that it is fully resourced at all times)
Define the Project Organisation (the structure of the Project, the arrangements for its Governance, and the Controls that will be used to manage it)
Define or confirm, and gain agreement to the Scope of the Project Prepare and maintain the Project Plan
Prepare and maintain the Stakeholder Engagement Plan (if the Project is part of a Programme, this might be developed and managed at programme level)
Prepare the Communications Strategy and Plan (ditto)
Assist the Project Sponsor to develop or confirm, and maintain the Project Business Case
Manage the Project (using the Project Controls) and ensure governance operates as per the Project Organisation
Drive the contractors, engineers and suppliers in accordance with the business processes.
Ensure quotes and purchase orders are timeously processed, approved and issued.
Report Project Progress to the Business Unit Project Sponsor (with recommendations for Risk Management and Issue Resolution) and to the Customer Project Manager where relevant
Manage Risks for which s/he is identified as the Risk owner Resolve Issues for which s/he is identified as the Issue Owner
Approve (or Reject) Change Requests that are within his/her Delegation of Authority
Provide recommendations to the Project Sponsor (and Customer Project Manager where relevant) as to readiness for Project launches, and work with the Business Owner to develop and implement transition plans for the adoption of project deliverables by the business
Ensure that Project Reviews are carried out after each Project launch and that lessons learned are fed back into the Programme (where relevant) and disseminated to those in the company who need to know

Key Principles:
Effective and frequent communication is a priority. The Technical Project Manager is expected to set and maintain the level of communication throughout the project across all stakeholders.
The Technical Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the SOF and Seibel Order are aligned and understood.
Customer kick-off meetings are mandatory with Engineer, Solution Architect and Account Manager in attendance.
Weekly Customer meetings are mandatory however they may be conducted virtually.
All meetings must be minute and saved in the Regional SharePoint folder.
The Technical Project Manager must produce an initial project plan (within 1 week of the kick-off) and will be based on estimate lead times of critical path activities.
The final project plan will only be due 1 week after site survey/inspection activities have been completed and timelines revised.
The project plan will be in a format as agreed to with the customer. The internal project plan format will be provided.
Every order within the project must have a stated initial and revised forecast date for completion.
The project completion date is for the fulfilment of all orders and delivery of all associated services.
Customer sign-off and triggering of billing should occur within 24 hours of provisioning services.
Weekly status reports are mandatory. The Technical Project Manager will need to provide the weekly tracker and status report.
Ensure the quality of reports and presentations are produced at a level suited for executive management level and adhere to latest corporate communication standards.
Timely and effective Escalation requiring executive management intervention or support.
Effective cost control. Whilst vendor rates are controlled through procurement, the Technical Project Manager is responsible to adhere to product rules to ensure product profitability.
Bespoke solutions will require adherence to the approved business case.
Project Manager will be required to work on platforms such as Workflow Manager, Power BI, IOMS, SharePoint, etc.
