DEPUTY CHIEF INSPECTOR OF MINES 2 POSTS REF NO: DMR/15/0045
SALARY : R988 152 per annum, Level 14
CENTRE : Head Office, Pretoria

REQUIREMENTS : A/an appropriate tertiary qualification in Mining/Electrical /Mechanical Engineering
with extensive experience at a senior management level PLUS Mine Manager’s
Certificate of Competence (MMC) Electrical /Mechanical Engineering
Government Certificate of Competence (GCC) PLUS the following competencies,
Knowledge: Mine Health and Safety Act and Regulations, Health risk
assessment techniques, mining environment, both big and small, surface and
underground, research and research methodology techniques, relevant public
regulations, regional and mining sector challenges, guidelines issued by the
Chief Inspector of Mine, management and leadership, knowledge and application,
advanced project management, Skills: management of people and Finance,
report writing, inspecting and auditing, project and programme management,
interpersonal and communication, advanced project management,
Communication: must be able to communicate at operational and strategic
levels, Creativity: must be innovative in thinking and approach.

 

DUTIES : Manage regions, Serve as nodal point for regions, Promote Mine Health and
Safety, Oversee regional operations, Lead high level interventions (inspection,
investigations, inquiries etc), Manage Mine Health and Safety risks (track and
identify trends) ensure pro-active interventions are in place.
