Department of Mineral Resources (DMR): Graduate Programme

The Department of Mineral Resources (DMR), in its Mine Health and Safety Inspectorate (MHSI), is contributing towards skills development by providing opportunities to unemployed diplomats and graduates through a Learner Inspector Training Programme for a period of two (2) years. There are possibilities for permanent employment on successful completion of the training programme, ie after the acquisition of a Government Certificate of Competency (GCC).

Interested applicants should be South African citizens between 18 and 35 years of age and medically fit to work underground. They should have completed their qualifications at a recognised tertiary institution in the following fields of study:

• Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
• Mechanical Engineering
• Mining Engineering
• Mine Surveying
• Occupational Hygiene

The following are requirements to be eligible for consideration: • Fully completed Z83 application form • Qualifying subjects obtained during course of study to be accepted as GCC candidate • Certified copies of: * Identity Document * Full academic record * Qualification or letter indicating completion of qualification from an academic institution.

Failure to submit the requested documents before the closing date will result in your application NOT to be considered. Applicants who have already participated in an Internship programme at any Government department will NOT be considered. Please note that all qualifications are subject to verification. Successful applicants will be subjected to security clearance.
